Villa eye up attacking moves as Europe beckons

Aston Villa have been linked with moves for a trio of established Premier League stars, as the prospect of a return to European football looks ever more likely.

The Villan’s win over Fulham, coupled with Brighton’s surprise defeat to Nottingham Forest, has left Unai Emery’s team in fifth place with the likelihood of a place in either the Europa League or Europa Conference League now far more than just an ambitious dream.

Experts at bookmakers.tv have scoured the betting sites to find exactly who Aston Villa are expected to have their eyes on, and it’s the attacking half of the field that appears most likely to be strengthened.

James Ward-Prowse has shown admirable loyalty to Southampton thus far, but their probable relegation would surely open his eyes to a summer move, with Villa among those predicted to target his signature. Villa are also quoted as a transfer option for Wilfried Zaha, but it’s probably Romelu Lukaku that would be the most eye-catching deal.

Lukaku’s reputation may have been tarnished somewhat after struggling to hit the heights at Chelsea and then on loan at Inter Milan, but the Belgian boasts a huge amount of experience on the European stage and would provide much-needed competition to the Villa frontline, following the departure of Danny Ings.

Odds for selected players to join Aston Villa during the summer transfer window:

James Ward-Prowse 13/2
Wilfried Zaha 8/1
Romelu Lukaku 12/1

Odds are correct as of 1 pm, Thursday 27th April 2023, and are subject to change.
