This afternoon Lioness manager Sarina Wiegman confirmed her 23-player squad for this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Turns out, Wiegman has given her the summer to rest and recover. A flock of injuries have hit the Lionesses' key players over the past few months, leaving a lot of speculation around the World Cup squad. Captain Leah Williamson and attacking midfielder Fran Kirby were ruled out due to knee injuries, while defenders Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze also faced fitness struggles (heads up: they pulled through).
