Aston Villa midfielder Marisa Ewers has announced her retirement from football at the age of 32. Ewers, who helped Villa secure promotion to the WSL in 2020 and captained the side as they survived the drop during their maiden season in the top flight, will move into an off-field role with the club for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign. “My playing career has come to an end now,” the midfielder told Aston Villa's official club website.
